Fran LevyFran Levy served for 33 years as an educator with the New York City Department of Education. Her career included service as a reading teacher, staff developer, school improvement facilitator, director of funded programs, director of curriculum and over 7 years as the principal of P.S. 22 in Queens.

With her expertise in literacy development and language learning applied to the programs at P.S. 22, student achievement improved each year under her leadership. Success of the school was recognized by the New York City Department of Education and the New York State Education Department for outstanding improvement in literacy and mathematics achievement.

After retiring from the New York City School system in June of 2003, Dr. Levy mentored new and inexperienced elementary school principals through New Visions for Public Schools. She is continuing to serve educators in New York City through the Hunter College Leadership Center and Star Factor Inc. Dr. Levy earned a B.A. and M.S. from Queens College and a Ph.D. from Fordham University .
