Chiva, R., & Alegre, J. (2008). Emotional intelligence and job satisfaction: The role of organizational learning capability. Personnel Review, 37(6), 680-701.
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between EI, as measured by the SREIT, and job satisfaction. Data were collected from blue-collar employees working for ceramic tile manufacturers in Spain. Results suggest that emotionally intelligent individuals are more likely to experience high levels of job satisfaction. Results also indicate that organizational learning capability (OLC), defined as a set of stimulating factors that facilitate organizational learning (e.g., experimentation, risk taking, interaction with the external environment, dialogue and participative decision making), plays a significant role in determining the effects of EI on job satisfaction. The most important implication is that job satisfaction is affected by the correlation between individual EI and certain working conditions.
