David Rothauser

David Rothauser has fifteen years of experience working in NYC public schools, both at the school and district level, as a STEM educator, instructional specialist, and staff developer. Early on, David recognized the relationship between his students’ emotional lives and their academic success. He has coached teachers, counselors, deans, and school leaders to create learning environments that foster academic and social emotional growth. David directed the Sci-Ed Innovators STEM Teaching Fellowship Program, which helps teachers enhance authentic engagement and improve classroom learning culture. As the Instructional Specialist for Social Emotional Learning at New Visions for Public Schools, David worked closely with schools to design and integrate SEL strategies, including advisory programs and improved responses to challenging behaviors. David went on to become the Senior Program Officer of School Culture and Climate at New Visions, where he coached principals to improve school climate using qualitative and qualitative data.
David currently works as a coach and consultant to individuals and organizations. He conducts an ongoing leadership training group for professionals from a range of sectors and teaches workshops on team development and group leadership. David co-creates transformative relationships with his clients and facilitates adult learning that is both experiential and reflective. David holds a master’s degree in childhood education and a graduate certificate for leadership in social emotional learning. He is a graduate of the Center for Group Studies, where he specialized in a psychodynamic approach to leadership. David earned a second master’s degree in psychoanalysis and is currently a psychoanalyst in advanced candidacy at the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies.

Interesting Facts
After two East Coast tours with his high school punk band, David traded in his amplified instruments for the fiddle and banjo and plays almost every day.
