Star Factor Coach
During her time with the New York City Department of Education (NYC DOE) Miriam Klein created an award winning school for seriously emotionally disturbed students that grew to include a large main building and 5 annexes throughout Brooklyn. It was successful due to their comprehensive psycho-educational approach to the complex emotional needs of students. Several NYC. Mayors recognized Ms. Klein as an exemplary principal. She also served as Supervising Principal for District 75 where she implemented professional development programs in Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports, teacher planning and implementation, differentiated instruction, establishment of school Advisory Programs, and data based evaluation systems. Ms. Klein, in response to a request by the New York State Department of Education and the NYC DOE, developed a program for students who were on the Central Based Support Team wait list for whom no appropriate programs existed. The program demonstrated to the Courts that this population of students was well served by the NYC DOE.
Ms. Klein has taught a variety of courses as an adjunct professor in the Graduate Schools of Education at Brooklyn College, City College and Hunter College. Currently, Ms. Klein works for Star Factor Coaching and the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence training candidates to be coaches. She has coached superintendents, principals, assistant principals and clinicians. She has worked as a coach and coach trainer for the NYC DOE, as well as school systems in Connecticut and England.
